The City of Gardena was recently awarded $600,000 under the Cal-Home Program, Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Allocation. Gardena was one of nine (9) cities selected in the Los Angeles County region. The funds were the result of the Proposition 1C's $2.85 billion Housing Bond passed by the voters in November 2006, a part of the Governor's Strategic Growth Plan.
The City plans to use its funds to improve existing mobile home and single family residential housing.
