Trees
are a wonderful way to beautify the environment, enhance property value,
provide shade, and produce oxygen, but they must be maintained to
insure the safety of citizens. That's why the City of Gardena Public
Works Department, Park Maintenance Division, operates on a regular
trimming rotation of all City of Gardena trees on the parkways, medians,
parks and other public properties. Trees are trimmed in a way
that does not deter growth, but which removes branches and limbs that
pose a threat to public safety, either because limbs hang above the
road surface or foliage interferes with traffic signs or overhead
utilities. Trees sometimes have to be replaced if they have overgrown
the area or have roots that lifted the sidewalk and/or curb.
For more information, or to report a tree with fallen limbs or branches
that pose a safety hazard, contact the Public Works Department, Park
Maintenance Division, located at 1717 W. 162nd Street, 24 hours a day at (310)
217-9568.
