The
City of Gardena Public Works Department is responsible for installing,
programming, maintaining, and repairing all traffic signals and illuminated traffic signs
within the City. This includes maintaining controllers and traffic detectors
at intersections to control the flow of traffic and insure safe and
swift transport of both vehicles and pedestrians. It also means installing
and maintaining all traffic signs and street names to make travel
easy for even the newcomer to the City of Gardena. Additionally, the
department marks lanes, crosswalks, and traffic patterns on the road
surface. The department regularly checks traffic signs and signals
to insure that they are visible and operational. They also keep pavement
markings clear and identifiable at all times.
Citizens are reminded that it is illegal to remove, obstruct, or deface
a traffic device, and violators will be prosecuted for such acts.
For more information, to report a traffic sign, signal, or marking
that needs attention, or to make a suggestion to improve traffic control
devices, contact the Public Works Department located at 1717 W. 162nd
Street, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or
