PUBLIC SERVICE GOAL: To serve as the general financial advisor to
the City, and, on behalf of the citizens, provide independent oversight
of the management of City finances.
The
City Treasurer is elected for a four-year term, is the custodian of
all funds in the City, and supervises the receipt, holding, investing,
and disbursement of funds. The Treasurer makes regular reports concerning
the City's financial position to the City Council, acts in administering
the bond assessment programs, and recommends and arranges for the City's
total investment program. The City Treasurer,
like the Mayor and Council, does not serve on a full-time basis and
receives only a stipend for services provided to the City. A full-time
Deputy City Treasurer and support staff provide assistance to this elected
position.
