The Gardena One-Stop staff understands that looking for a job MATCHING your qualifications and interests is an involved process. We are here to assist individual job seekers in locating job vacancy listings and assessing your skills.We offer free access to various job search resources. The computer lab is equipped with several programs, including Microsoft Office and Resume Maker. You may also access the Internet. Individuals are able to conduct electronic job searches, create resumes, and research the labor market. Job seekers may use the copier, fax, and phones to aid in their employment SEARCH. Gardena One-Stop staff and an on-site Employment Development Department (EDD) representative provide individualized attention, including employment counseling, to qualifying individuals.
Individuals who are filing for unemployment insurance can call (800) 300-5616 or may call from the One-Stop's direct line to the EDD Unemployment Insurance office. The on-site EDD Representative is here to help you navigate the CalJOBS database. We can also provide referrals to the City of Gardena's Human Services division, for information on child care and other supportive services.
The One-Stop receives money through the Workforce Investment Act to fund training for individuals, including laid off workers and lower income adults. Due to the variability in funding cycles, it is best to contact the One-Stop directly to determine whether there IS CURRENT FUNDING available and whether you would qualify.
